June 30, 2008 I underwent surgery to repair disc in my lower back. L5S1, the stabilizing disc, was fused and two screws were placed to stabilize until fusion is achieved.

  • I'm glad to here that you are doing much better! I'm going to have the same surgery this week Lord willing on two levels L-4, S-1. Thank you for replying. God bless.

  • Good luck, do everything they tell you and you'll be fine. Let me know how it goes, and remember, keep pressing the button for pain, have all your family and friends around, joke, laugh, watch a lot of tv, and just let the staff take care of you. God bless to you, you'll be GREAT!

  • I hope all is well with you and your family. looks like you have a high talorance to pain. God bless you.

  • I am doing much better now, 3 weeks out, walking 30 minutes 3x a day, and taking care of myself.

  • I had my L5-S1 fusion in Feb 2002. After surgery they, for 3 days hardly came to me. No sponge baths, I stunk like gel sweat badly. I would ring for the nurse and 2 or 3 hours later they would come in and they always seemed upset they had to come. On the third day/morning they finally got me out of bed and told me to walk 100 ft and come back. Grant Hospital in Cbus, Ohio. Surgeon fixed me well but the nurses in my ward never cared. I reported them and they were dismissed. Hope yours was better.

  • Im seeing my doc tomorrow, Im in horriable pain, L5 is bone on bone, I drag my leg, the pain never goes away, I also have degitive dic 3 of them, thank you for posting your progress, there is hope, i hear horrow stories, and then i see you, you will do anything to get out of the pain, god bless you.

  • i just did l4-l5 with discectomy and fusion... my scar is like 6 inches long....!

  • I just had a microdisectomy, decompression and fusion at L4/L5 4 weeks ago. They used the Medtronic Sextant system with 4 titanium screws, 2 titanium rods and a PEEK cage/spacer.

I'm relatively pain free, and doing 4 x 30 min walks each day. I've still got some numbness in my left foot/leg and some groin pain.....but overall I'm happy with the results.

How are you doing now that it's been 2 years since your surgery?
