@OccamsRzzr E-value is the "expectation value". Here's what the NCBI website has to say about it: "(It is) the number of different alignents with scores equivalent to or better than S that are expected to occur in a database search by chance." S is referring to the raw score. You can find out more about it at the NCBI website. Essentially, an e-value works like a p-value, the smaller the better.
