Eventuellement in French means the same as "Ewentualnie" in Poilsh...
So in Poland people tend to use Eventualy for maybe

Yep exactly ! Faux amis = deceptive cognate (Bizarre comme mot, hein ! Well, if you saw my face when my 11th grade English teacher told me "false friends" doesn't mean sh** and taught me that word !)

I usually use finalement to translate eventually. I'm not sure how accurate this is though.

Hi Leyla,
This is a bit unrelated to this particular video, but I'm curious, when you acquire interest in a new language that you've never pursued/studied before where do you start? Do you just by dialogue tapes? Or do you first study basic pronunciation and sentence structure before going to the dialogues?

Hi Leyla.
Just to say that (to me) a pretty accurate translation in french would be "finalement" or anything with similar meaning such as "au final".
You are right, this one is super tricky.
Another one :
Actually VS Actuellement
The worst with those "faux amis" is that actually when you use them (like saying eventually while thinking it means "maybe" or "perhaps"), that can still result in a valid english sentence. But both people will understand it in a different way.

Coucou content que tu sois de retour :-D. Instinctivement, moi, je dirais " finir par", c'est-à-dire, pour rendre le sens anglais de " eventually" on peut utiliser " finir par + infinitif" ex: he'll eventually understand/realize etc= il finira par comprendre, par se rendre compte et non éventuellement, il comprendra, se rendra compte. Comme l'intuition humaine n'est pas infaillible, j'ai fait des recherches là-dessus et la plupart des dictionnaires consultés rendent le sens anglais de

finir par is a very good translation.
Thanx for that

How about, 'finalement' ?

I would say
eventually ≈ finalement
éventuellement ≈ possibly / why not
