In the winter of 2003, Rodney Heemstra shot Tom Lyon in an argument over some land, near Milo Iowa. Rodney then hooked up a log chain to Tom's body, dragged him down a gravel road and dumped his body into a cistern on an abandon farm. Several days later Tom's body was found and Mr. Heemstra was arrested, stood trial and was sentenced to life in prison. In a second trial he was convicted of man slaughter instead and was released from prison after serving about five years. This video features "Dark Day in Milo"© a song that I wrote about the story .
Thanks Krabbers! The only thing this song needs is maybe a little ukelele!

I am honored by the comparison , thank you so much! I love Dylan's song "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carrol! Some stories just need to become folk songs.

wow, just wow. good job, eh.
Remember when Dylan wrote his ballads about modern events, like "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carrol?"
This is old school in that same way, I think, in the best folk tradition.
Great song, important message, tragic story, and the video is haunting. It silently asks the question "He died for this?"
