Hi there, this video was instructional. I have been stretching wrong for a month now, and for some reason stretching my inner thighs would really hurt, a deep nasty pain. Could it be because my back would be arched all along ? Also I just tried butterfly stretch keeping my back still, and I actually couldn't, my back would still be slightly arched and I couldn't bend forward at all. Do I have to keep at it anyway ?

I bend my back and do it wrong but i thought thats just how you start off, i thought once you are more flexible, then u can do it with a straight back :/ oterwise i feel i'll never be able to become flexible

Hello, thank you so much for this video, it's very detailed and helpful for my stretching. I do Brazilian Jujitsu, and hip and leg flexability is VERY important, so I've been taklook for the best stretches and fell somewhat in love with Yoga haha I have a bit of an issue though. This back straight pose, in sitting forward bend SUCKS for me, I cannot even sit up straight like that without stretching why??? Looking back I slouched alot of the time. Is it just my back is REALLY inflexable?

this is so so so sooooo much easier said than done. even after watching this, my lower back is still sore after stretching and my legs remain tight

OMG i've been stretching wrong all my life!!! no wonder as i get older i've been getting less and less flexible even though i "stretch"
it all makes sense now! but now that mean i have to start all over :(

@neekie5235 you're not alone, I didn't just make this video on a whim, it's the mistakes I've seen in thousands of students just like you. You're not alone, just get back to the mat and get it right from now on!

I do wushu and have been trying to get my back straight like the lady in your video but i think mens backs physically just dont get that straight. i think its our hip structure. when i do leg raises...i can get my toe to my head whilst keeping my back straight, but sitting with my feet in front and stretching forward....i find it very hard to keep my back straight. if i keep it straight....then i would be sitting at a 90 degree angle and not really stretching forward. what do you think?

@afy300 There are differences between male and female hips, but I've seen guys do it with a straight back, so it's not impossible. Very rare though. Will think about this.

This is great! Kind of embarrassing though, because when I put my toes back, that's as far as I can go. Hopefully I will get better soon.

If you practice there's no "hopefully" about it, you will get better. It's just physics!
