The Chicago Botanic Garden's Rebecca Tonietto gives you easy to follow step-by-step instructions on how to give native bees a hand by building a homemade nesting block or bee condo in your home landscape. Native bees are important to our environment because they are more efficient pollinators than honeybees.
Join us on Saturday, June 4 as we celebrate World Environment Day at the Chicago Botanic Garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Garden scientists, ecologists and horticulturists will be on-hand to share their expertise through free and informal presentations, demonstrations and tours. Look up some videos on how they build an actual bee hive from wood. You would put the wooden "condo" inside of a sealed tubberware case, but cut out a couple small holes in the bottom so they can exit/enter. If it's bitter cold it may not work since they'll likely freeze.

This looks like a great project for my veggie garden. I was following you right along but you los me when you talked about the Tupperware container. Could you do a video that shows what you mean? Also I live in a climit that is severely cold in winter will leaving the container in my garage be alright?
