Chopin Ballade no.1

Me playing the first Ballade in a concert.

There's something about Chopin's Ballades which is really amazing: you relate to them in a VERY personal manner, much more so than with other pieces. I've heard this piece several times in concert, but never have I found in other people's interpretations something that I would do. It's as if, when someone plays a Ballade, the interpretation is almost always 100% that person.
So don't complain that I played the end too fast :p (who cares about wrong notes anyway)

I thought I played alright, but it could have been a bit better... oh well.

Wow i just loved this. I think you've interpreted it beautifully... in a similar style to Vladimir Ashkenazy who is without a doubt my favourite pianist ever... so kudos to you there. And as for your comment about being 'alright' but 'could have been a bit better' - pfft. Music isn't about being perfect. And you play beautifully.

You think that I didn't invest my heart and soul in this? Well sucks to be you. I really love it (well less than the other Ballades but still) and I believe there's a lot of music in what I did.

WELL done. One of the very very few, if not the only, "me playing..." version on youtube that is really worth something. Mistakes - who cares. Your interpretation was fantastic and it was just so well done. Almost made me cry a little. Just beautiful. How long have you been playing and how long did it take you to learn this piece?
