  • I hate the economy, Im trying to get money so I can get T also. But my mom knows Im trans and she might pay for my T, hope everything goes well with you!

  • that's awesome that she might pay for your T! my parents aren't as accepting of the LGBT community as a whole, so they don't even know about my transition issues [they just think that I'm a really butch lesbian]

  • if your parents accept you as a butch lesbian are you absolutely sure they wouldn't come around to you being trans? Just consider that they may be more loving than you think. And figure out if you are able to wait three years to start physical transition.

  • The thing is, my dad doesn't accept gay people in general...he just refuses to admit that I like girls. We have kind of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy at my house, and has told me to never mention girls.

I don't know if I'll be able to wait three years, but I feel like if i want my parents financial support for school, that may be the only option.

  • I find it strange how I feel like a transition to a man is pretty cool yet I find a transition to a woman weird . I dunno.

  • @shawno315 Fathers tend to be less accepting of it unless they were around it a lot. My mom knew since I was a kid Id be gay. But shes told me up front that if I wanted to go through the procedure and get T and the surgery, to make sure I lived far away or she was dead. I think for parents its hard to hear that their little girl/boy truly believes they are the opposite of what they were born to be. My mom is my main support, its the only thing stopping me from going FTM.

  • hopefully everything works well

  • what college are you at?

  • that's a shame, I'd hoped you were just being overly cautious. I can definitely understand why you wouldn't want to compromise your financial stability while in college. You'll figure things out when necessary. I look forward to hearing about your progress

  • I vote grad school. I mean, depends on what you're studying and whether it makes sense, I suppose--and it's still a wait. But it gives you more time to transition before you have to find work--and if you have a graduate assistantship, you'll probably be financially independent + have some health insurance coverage, at least for stuff like a therapist and blood work.

  • I hope my mom can pay for my T, if not them Im screwed haha.

  • Thanks :)

I think the only give-away is my voice, but even that, I believe, is kind of deep for a biological female [even though it's also extremely monotone and sarcastic-sounding at times].
