This was taken Wednesday January 5, 2011 at noon when the City of Dallas test the Tornado Warning Air Raid Sirens. The sirens are tested the first Wednesday of every month if the weather outside is good. What really sucks about this video is that I have been trying for months to get a close up video of a Thunderbolt 1000T as there are not many of the left. Well I got all in position and the sirens does NOT work!!! I was able to hear all the sirens around me. So people that live in this neighborhood, your siren is broke. What even worst there is old folks home right across the street and this siren doesn't work. Not good!!!

  • The entire old system has been decommissioned since the 2001-130s were installed. Any of the old ones left standing are disconnected and dead on the pole. Sucks that it didn't work out, but I love the ambiance of the 2001s in attack in the background!

  • @murrfarms Thanks for the information!!!

  • @murrfarms There are 4 lonestanders that i know of: Bachman park, Fire Station 41, Fire station 28,Tietze Park & fire station 28.

  • @amberlynn6914 Are these working? If so I will go out and record one of them next test. Thanks!

  • are most the sirens in dallas thunderbolts and 2001's

  • @bethatonegirl Most of the sirens in Dallas use to be Thunderbolts but the city has been replacing them with 2001s :(

  • I will miss the Thunderbolt sirens since they were the sirens I grew up with in Dallas. I remember the Thunderbolt siren at Lake Highlands High School sounding off around 1 AM during a tornado warning back in the spring of 1984. On the same day and same time that you filmed this video, I was filming a 2001-130 siren just a few miles away. You can see this video here on YouTube; just type in "WADE'S SIREN VIDEO PART 1. I will post more of my siren videos in the next few months.

  • @020808 they should have gotten t-128's

  • on January 5th,i went to Thomas c. marsh middle school to record their thunderbolt, and seeing as it's from '59,it had a nice long run before they killed it. why did they kill it and forget to turn the power off-the power is still on!

  • @amberlynn6914 oops,i put station 28 twice.I meant hillcrest high school.nonetheless, i hope to hit teitze park soon.

  • @gameshowluvr86 I do. We use to go there when I was a kid.
