The new Ibex EP on Juicy Lucy Records, "Until I leave Detroit," is inspired by Ibex's relentless quest for new and provocative sounds. The four songs have very different feelings behind them, but all have that recognizable Ibex vibe "Peak Moments" starts with a nice kick drum and a buzzing bass line. A deep chord helps build it up into what the title indicates, a peak moment. Towards the end a very Eastern sounding percussion groove tops it off. "Catacomb" starts with a nice melodic chord riff and some percussion, then gets deeper with a rhythmic bass line and some nice synth leads. "Freedom Africa" takes us on a trip with some Afro-Brazilian style rhythms and vocal hooks, then utilizes some choice samples to get a deep house groove going. "Fruits Ripe" starts with a percussive intro and some heavy drum work, then come the chord riffs which introduce a tribal vocal hook. The end result is an arrangement that should get any dance floor moving! Enjoy!
