This self-performed myofacial release using a tennis or lax ball can be performed everyday by athletes (or the general population) to help drastically decrease low-back pain. Give it a try!

  • i think you can also use the foam roller also for this but that ball will really hit spots good.

  • Yes, a foam roller works well...but a tennis or lax ball works even better because they're smaller so you can really focus on specific spots that are tender.

  • GREAT thansk

  • dang thanks alot for that Joe! Hopefully it will help alleviate some of the pain I get due to my herniated disk!

  • it's weird i love the muscle pain that comes with trigger points, especially in my piriformis. I think it's called the "feel-good pain"

  • This exercise is causing sciatic tingling due to pressure on the nerve, should I stop doing it?

  • I can barely put my leg over the other one. had to straighten it a lot more.

    Got anything for that?

  • I cannot do that last one at all

  • it looks like hes scratching his ass

  • I went out and got a lacross ball to try this for the first time tonight. Wow thank you, it helped alot with my lower back pain, which i dont think has been diagnosed right. Im gonna do this everynight from now on!

  • Are you doing this because you have (or had) sciatica or nerve impingement from piriformus like I do, or just because of general tightness and it feels good?
