These dogs saved many lives but at the end of the war they were either given to the South Vietnamese or euthanized. They deserved more respect than that.

These dogs were so helpful in Viet Nam. They were given to the South Vietnamese because they could not get them out. It is a shame because their fate was doomed. They were true heros. G-d Bless them!

This version and "War Dog Tribute 2" are both wonderful. Although Simon & Garfunkel's music is very moving, IMHO the music with this video suits even better. It is so spare and beautiful, and evocative of a dog's innocence and trust. Dogs have no words, only their emotions and their actions (true, they have no music either). "War Dog Tribute 2" is a beautiful and heartfelt soldier's remembrance; if the dogs had music of their own, this remembrance would be theirs.

K9courage,
Thanks for the information! I'll definitely check out that book! The thought of those dogs being left behind is really disturbing so if there's evidence to the contrary that would be great to know.
Thanks.

The two people that disliked this video shoulda died face down in a rice pattie.

As others here are stating, the poor dogs that served in Vietnam were left behind (while locked in their cages) when the American troops left Vietnam. All the dogs left behind most likely starved to death or were killed by the Vietnamese troops. They served their country with bravery and loyalty and were just left to die because the American government placed no value on their lives. I hope that today's military dogs are treated with more care and respect.

fuc* the DOD - they killed most of these animals after they served gallantly -- who ever was responsible for that should have been shot...
PLEASE GO TO WAR DOG TRIBUTE 2 shown here as a video response. It has the music that I originally had on this video. It's sure a lot better than the music on this video. Thank you. 12sps

Agree 110% 12SPS ! ! ! All yo did was try and do a TRIBUTE, not for money but out of respect. That´s what´s wrong with our country, MOST, not all, but MOST are in it for themselves and the $ $ $. If I knew WHO complained (Artist or Record Label) I would send em an Email telling them will never spend another penny on their records!

It's an issue between YouTube and Warner Music Group (Warner Brothers Records). The song I had for this was Simon and Garfunkel's "Bookends." It was muted and then this music replaced it. There is a re-master of "Bookends" that Sony owns and they do have an agreement with YouTube. So I will try to make the change soon.

Sorry for the crappy music. YouTube made me change it because I did not have the rights to use the one I posted. The men and dogs in this video who died have to wonder about the stupidity of such an action. ASCAP/BMI WMG. I don't care who you are...these men gave their all and I can't even use a deceit song in tribute!!! BS
