Are there people working hard for renewable energies like OTEC not to be a success?
Countries like Mauritius in the tropical regions would have benefitted largely from OTEC, by cutting off its dependance on fossil fuels to generate electricity

30 years after, nobody seems interested. Where are the other OTEC plants on earth? What the video does not point out, is that Toshiba has already been building Nuclear power plants in Japan since the 1960's where it has been deploying heat exchangers using sea water for cooling. Have a look at the Fukushima nuclear plant constrution details.
Where they really interested in the Technology, or did they build the plant as a show case to distract attention from OTEC???

In the meantime, Titanium Plate Heat Exchangers are preferred!
chadlupkes, the deep water pipe was destroyed relatively shortly after it was completed, by a storm or hurricane.
