thank you for this. Lynott, I stayed up all night when he cied

Thanks for posting this gem, It has some of the same lyrics as RUNNING BACK, my guess it's an outtake from JAILBREAK, Melody is so different he could have made another song from this..Man, This song is fantastic. Wish it was better produced.

great tune thanks for sharing

@thinlizzylive What an amazing poignant tune. It just goes to show the genius of the man and 25 years on his death is still raw. It's a shame this wasn't released as single. Well done again for posting these tunes, keep up the good work...

So it should be from the same group of recordings as blackmail and are you ready.

I have this on bootleg, the bootleg is called the black rose sessions and the date of this song is claimed to be !st of Feb, 1978 in Good Earth studios, the version I have is a cleaner cut but the vocals is the exact same so I'm pretty sure its the same version. Anyway the date could be bull, I'l be meeting up with the seller soon so might ask him then.
The line up is claimed to be Phil, Gary Moore, Scott Gotham and Brian Downey. Hope this helps.

@thinlizzylive I think this song is better than "Running back" myself!
-
Oh come on people stop fannying around and work your magic, add the same (but new) music, keep the original vocals and give us a new Phil song!

COOL

what thin lizzy line up is this

I'm thinking of writing to Thin Lizzy Ltd to ask for a couple of releases - ie demos & b-sides and a new live release. I have an incredible bootleg from the US tour of 1977 which kicks ass and they should officially release - I'll be posting a live version of Johnny in a few days.
Thin Lizzy Ltd or whoever they are annoy the fuck out of me. Such a lack of releases for a band that's building in popularity. This track's great, one of the best demos he left behind. And it's all gathering dust...

Philadelphia '77?

Wow... just, wow. I'm guessing this dates to the "Vagabonds" era, perhaps the period associated with the tour of Germany as a four-piece with two lead guitarists whose names escape me right now.
This sounds a bit like a cross between "Running Back" and "A Song For While I'm Away."

The guitarists you're thinking of are John Cann and Andy Gee. Yeah, If I had to guess I'd say around '74. Thanks for all the nice feedback. The best part about putting up all the music is reading the responses people give. I'm glad you're enjoying them.
