@GOBbluthagain There's a rule called 180 degree shutter angle, which gives a better motion look, not too blurry and not too smeary. x fps = 1/(x * 2) shutter. In this video I used 30 fps, so I set my shutter speed to 1/60. If I shot at 24p, I'll use 1/48 (or 1/50).

@Dammit250r Of course....it's 50mm vs. 30mm. On a 1.6x crop sensor like the T2i the 50mm (a "normal lens" on a full frame sensor) is about an 80mm lens, basically a portrait lens, semi telephoto, whereas 30mm (wide angle on a full frame sensor) becomes about 48mm (close to a normal view lens) on the T2i. A wider fast lens wide open will always have deeper (ie; less shallow) depth of field vs a fast close/telephoto lens that's wide open. So yes, it will have more manageable DOF.

In your last couple of shots it would seem the depth of field is a lot more useable than my canon 50mm 1.8 when wide open. With the 50mm at 1.8 the depth of field is so shallow it's damn near unusable. Have you compared these two lenses and would you say this is accurate?

@ThunderZTRM haha ok. :) thanks, dude.
doesnt seem to be as sharp or have that great of depth of field for this particular lens

@amcleland1 It is a characteristic of every lens that it's less sharp at largest aperture. =(

is there being no IS a problem for video?

@ytwallabang If you're doing handheld video, yes, the video will be jittery. Solution is to use shoulder rigs, video stabilizer (such as steadicam), or tripod.
