Plaster mask

Making a plaster mask for cosplay. Katie asked me to do the plaster work. First we put vaseline on her face, then I started putting the strips of plaster on after dipping them in water. It dried after a few minutes and it was really easy to do. I made a few Bleach jokes. XD Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It's a wig cap. It won't keep the plaster out of your hair but it kept her hair pulled back! We put some vaseline on her hairline to keep it from sticking.

As for smoothing out the mask, I am not sure... I heard you can smooth paper mache with sandpaper, but it works better if you spread gesso on it first and sand that when it dries.

No actually we put petroleum jelly on her skin first, so the plaster won't stick.

Nah, that's why you cover the face in petroleum jelly first! If you don't, it irritates the skin.

Can you use oil instead of pertoleum jelly?
