ASTORIA, Ore. The Coast Guard rescued a hiker from a cliff south of Humbug Mountain, Ore., Friday, Mar. 5, 2010. Coast Guard Air Station North Bend, Ore., launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew after receiving a call from the Curry County Police about a hiker in distress at approximately 3:25 p.m.
Once the Dolphin crew arrived on scene, a rescue swimmer was deployed and hoisted the hiker safely into the helicopter. The helicopter landed in a parking turnout on Ore. Highway 101 designated by the Oregon State Police, 50-feet from the hikers vehicle.
