  • @spoonerdee As I have heard engine braking became a feature only in 2010, what year in your BMW? Thanks.

  • @GregWn 2005. It reacts the same as when it's in auto mode when I lift off the pedal, slows down a tiny bit which is just from the resistance of friction from the road and engine, so yeah like most other cars. The only time it will drastically slow down is if I down shift.

  • @spoonerdee What year is your car? I have heard engine breaking added as feature in 2010. When you say slow down a bit, are you saying no more than any other car? Thanks.

  • @GregWn Not in my e46, might slow down a tad but nothing dramatic.

  • This auto transmission if a pain...it has engine braking. Translation - every time you ease off the gas the engine slows down the car dramatcially, especially if you take your foot fully off the gas at lower speeds. Jarring and no coasting to stop signs or stop lights.
