Anyone can miss. The best players in history have missed penalty kicks. One of the best players in Italy's history, Roberto Baggio, missed a penalty exactly the same way in 94's WC final. The keys are being cold blooded, and being good on dead balls. Beckham almost never misses those not because he's good, it's because he's a specialist on dead balls. Donovan's pre-kick ceremony clearly showed that he was nervous, and that messes up your precision. He blew it, but he's still a great player.

Donovan is a good player, he can score goals for Everton in the premier league which we saw him do just the other day, and there's a big gap between mls and the premier league. I also think USA's world cup team this year is one of their best ever and it's gonna be interesting playing against them, as England and USA are in the same group!
