Yapahuwa is a cultural attraction in Sri Lanka situated midway between the UNESCO World Heritage site of Anuradhapura and Kurunegala. Among the preserved ruins at Yapahuwa is a marvellous stone stairway that climbs steeply to the summit of the summit of the rock on which palace of the king Bhuvanekabahu the first (1272 -1284). The stone stairway is finely carved. Among the attractions are the lion terrace and cave temple.
