  • I remember years ago, like the 80s, listening to a radio interview with Lamont Dozier & he was saying orginally this song was going to be lead by Mary Wilson, but then they finally agreed with some upper heads that Diana Ross would do the lead. One of the Hollands kept insting for Mary, but lost out. So they put Mary's voice closest to the background mike & put Florence Ballard behind her to fill it out more. He said they wanted a smokey sexy sound. So Mary complimented that flavor for Diana.

  • @SWDetboy I like this...I like this ALOT! =D

  • This is nice, but I only hear Mary and Diane. Where's Flo?

  • Actually...after listening to it again...she's not even there! :s

  • @stawberry19919

Like SWDetboy said, Florence is there, She's just behind Mary too fill out the backing.

Don't worry, Florence is there :L

  • @SinclairisCool Oh! Thanks! I know she is....NOW! lol. It was just all soo confusing.

  • One of the things I hate about DraTS is they rarely sang harmony, and they sounded damn good that way!

  • @carolinaguy321 , You can't hear Flo cause her and Mary are singing unison, and Flo is singing behind Mary so her voice is more faint.

  • I can't believe these girls including the Marvelettes (who refused the song) thought this song was infantile. Baby is a synonymous meaning for sweetheart in this song, not infantile, or juvenile

  • It's hard to hear Flo's voice, but it is there. This is when they were at their best, cause I could never hear Cindy.

  • @motorcitymiguel , Not really. They both sound like hoarse off key cows now.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this version!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!! This is the very 1st time listening to The Supremes singing this beautiful, all-time classic best-seller in acappella!!!! It's DA BOMB!!!!

  • AMEN!!!! So sick of all that over singing. Riffs with no meaning. Jackie and Stevie know how to riff it as does Aretha, but you can hear a song there. Some of our modern "soulful" singers are vocal gymnists, perhaps Olympic bound but a zero when you compare to the originals!

  • @CheckMate657879 Who said anything about a movie? This is a perfect Motown pop record that has remained popular for over 40 years. All I'm saying is that I don't hear the magnificent Flo on the background. It is Mary alone and doing a fabulous job with those "baby babys."

  • ACAPELLA IS ABSOLUTE NO MUSICAL ACCOMPANYMENT

  • @TELESUPERSARA Just because YOU don't HEAR Flo's voice doesn't mean she's been edited out. This is not a movie.
