MTA Police and other security personnel have been routinely detaining and questioning people taking photos or video in the Atlantic Yards land grab area. The harassment includes questions about group affiliations and lectures on how the project will not be stopped. But is there a real security issue? • IN 2008, police are STILL trying to confiscate peoples still and video cameras and demand that they erase pictures etc...The scary thing is, people DO IT. Tell the cops to FUCK THEMSELVES if they demand to take your camera or demand that you delete video or photos. TAKE THAT TO COURT. TAKE IT TO THE MEDIA.

  • To clarify, you have to reveal your ID if they have reasonable suspicion, which they don't have to tell you. If anything bad happens though, and it goes to court, they must articulate that suspicion.

  • "those men and woman officers protect people like you especially in times of crisis. "

This is a pretty sorry way to do so.

You are the textbook definition of a tool.

  • This is not a liberal or conservative issue. I am conservative and have been harassed by ignorant security guards and police while photographing NYC and Las Vegas - haven't been bothered in Dallas. Photography is not a crime!

  • The police get that hands tied by crying liberals like yourself. Instead of targeting those individuals worthy of investigation, they have to stop everybody in an effort to be "fair" - You think those cops are a waste of money you fool? Don't utilize the police services when you need them then! Go tell someone else who will care & help you in your time of crisis. And by the way, the MTA Police comprise less than 1% of the ENTIRE MTA operating budget.

  • That's pretty stupid and very typical of those with no facts or arguement

  • You aren't very American. You've drank too much Sean Hannity Kool Aid

  • Oh john you silly little bastard, they probably caught you taking pictures of little girls like you love to do. I don't see what the problem is though, I'm sure you have a nice collection by this point.

  • Complete useless waste of money for police? First off, blame yourself and you liberals for having the police check old ladies bags because if the police didnt, im sure the aclu and you libws would say they are profiling. Second, those men and woman officers protect people like you especially in times of crisis. So if you dont like it, then move to another country. People like you make me sick!

  • I've been harassed by MTA Police for photography on the LIRR, and I was in public areas. MTA Police harass photographers and searching old lady's pocketbooks. They are a complete useless waste of money. And our fares keep going up to pay for this nonsense!
