Absolutely spot on, José Afonso the originator of everything that crosses folk and fado de Coimbra, lives forever in the minds of who on that dawn of April heard his song as a signal for the start of the carnations revolution.

Esta historia está incompleta, podiam ter dito que a grande maioria dos anarquistas foram denunciados por infiltrados a soldo dos comunistas, que tentavam assim (conseguindo mesmo no 25 de Abril) ver se livres dos anarquistas e anarco-sindicalistas que gozavam de muito mais prestigio junto das classes operárias. Tudo isto antes da ditadura do porco do Salazar, está claro.

I taped this show from LINK TV. This has to be my number one video in my home library. I love it and treasure it..I have to go to Portugal and see the country that inspires such great music. Fado rocks!!

Thanks, I'll look it up. It is surprising it was used in this way and also that it sounds just as beautiful.. maybe I shouldn't learn portuguese after all.

Yes, Fado had got a bad reputation during the dictatorship because it was being used to get people's minds off of politics where as this clip shows a Fado song before the dictatorship that discussed real political problems. This kind of Fado has since been silenced and it's unfortunate we don't hear more of it post-dictatorship.
