  • I think it's important to understand the words of Mr. Morrison at the end of this video- he asked me to shoot these teachings and wanted me to spread the word- which is why it is posted here.

He says "where is the love that brought our people together?" I don't think this is only an Indian ideal- it is a human idea. Lets learn to love and learn from each other.

  • @ midwesternn8iv:

Your concerns have not gone unnoticed, I assure you. Much debate has been had over this footage.

Mr. Morrison and I felt that it was important to establish a bit of cultural understanding for those unfamiliar with Ojibwe beliefs. You fear what you do not understand, and it is my belief that many do not understand this culture and I feel this has lead to unacceptable racism in this country. No offense is intended, but it is for this reason that we chose to include them.

  • The Gentleman's name in the piece is Richard Morrison (see end credits)

  • I'm not crazy about putting our anishinabe spirituality out there...to many newagers, frauds, and lost whitemen who are willing to "try whatever". It is the ultimate white privilege to take and use our teachings. No. I don't like it..

  • The answer to "Who will pay?" is 1) karma and 2) the ancestors have and are paying. Trust me, whatever those ancestors did, they paid partly before they died and, because "the sins of the fathers pass down to the 3rd and 4th generation" (and since I believe in reincarnation), the ancestors return in new bodies to pay (somehow) for their misdeeds.

Because Christian teaching says that we won't pay until a Judgment Day, people think the wrongdoing is not being punished fast enough. Not true.

Thank you for this. I am a current Penn State student, and I have always been fascinated by Native American traditions, but wary of being disrespectful. I am looking into the class, and I believe that I will take it.
