it's good that you swaddle him in just his diaper.
my 6 week old son houdini'd his arm out. we woke up and his arm was coming out through the neck of his pajamas. but the PJ arm was still wrapped up in the blanket.

The miracle blanket is great, but babies can outgrow it and get out of it. The Woombie is a newer product that we didn't find out about until later. We tried it when our baby was 4 1/2 months old (they make a large size for babies over 14 lbs) and it was fabulous. If starting over again I'd probably just use the Woombie.
