Highly skilled troubadours from Los Llanos improvise on the spot with the Quirpa melody and its with these very deep expressions of feeling, especially for our land, that I have written the lyrics of Raices, Roots.
The character I have taken on this video, as a singer, is that of the typical Llanero aspirant to the artistic world, who arrives quite shy but determined to learn from the maestros where fine music is played. Perhaps as I arrived, as many others did, to the house of my brother Alberto Curvelo El Guajibo, then, Director of the Music Academy in Villavicencio, from where many of todays professional representatives of The Llanero musical culture of Colombia come.

Veteranos copleros del Llano improvisan rimado y al momento acompañados del golpe recio de La Quirpa, y es con esas profundas expresiones del sentir por nuestra tierra que escribí la lírica de Raíces.
El carácter que tomo en este video es aquel típico del Llanero aspirante al mundo del arte, quien llega un poco tímido pero determinado a aprender de los maestros donde se toca música con fines. Tal vez como llegue y vi llegar a otros, a la casa de mi hermano Alberto Curvelo El Guajibo, entonces Director de La Academia Departamental de Música en Villavicencio; de donde muchos de los hoy profesionales representantes de la cultura musical Llanera de Colombia fuimos impulsados.
