Climbing the Niblick, a 5b/c route at Harrison's rocks in the South East of England. Used to climb this without any ropes, but now I'm older and wiser, and realise that I could die :¬)Fantastic route- the best of it's grade at Harrisons thanks the the excellent varied climbing- great moves.

  • Hey guys, i started climbing at harrisons about 3 weeks ago, I've just made the jump from 4c to 5a and was wondering if this would be a good route to try as im looking to push myself.

any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • I'm predominantly a sport climber, so the idea of having a go regardless of your chance of onsighting it seems fine to me (as long as you're on a top rope). If you come off, just try it again until you succeed. Good luck! Have fun!

  • Did this today! I was really disappointed to find out it had been downgraded though - I thought I had done my first 5c. Seemed miles harder than Spider Wall though which is rated 5b :/. Odd.

  • Good effort! A fine climb, whatever the grade.

  • Fantastic route. No way it's 5c though.

  • Some tricky moves, particularly onsight. I've seen some pretty competent climbers who wouldn't normally come off 5b take a fall on it. Probably easy 5c.

  • I have checked in my 1969 copy of south east england guide and niblic was originally a 5c .So how does a climb get easier when all the moves are basically the same.Still aclassic and well worth doing for the 3***.

  • A valuable I've always found this one really difficult. I still haven't mastered how to rock over onto the right leg at the second break.

  • Like 95% of climbers I've ever seen at Harrisons- I assume that means you are in the 5% who do don't- well done.

  • Using chalk, shame on you.
