  • I went into shock when i heard him say they never won a grammy. Who in the hell decides this stuff? The Spinners were and still are required listening. There must be some behind the scenes politics going on because you can't convince me that they are not one of the all time greatest soul groups. I am equally shocked to hear that they are not in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. That in and of itself is ashame. We need to start a Soul Music Hall Of Fame and they need to be the first honorees.

  • ITS A SHAME!!! my joint!!!!

  • I forgot to mention, "That's What Girls Are Made For" was the first release in the US on Tri-Phi, in the UK, it was on the British Columbia label, but in the UK, it says "The Spinners" instead of using "Detroit". That must be a problem where they don't use the name "Spinners" from a British folk group, so in England they added "Detroit" and called it the "Detroit Spinners" and then went over to Tamla Motown, a British version of Motown in the US released a number of singles throughout the 60's.

  • As I was saying, if you're in the UK, they called it the Detroit Spinners, but sometime around 1959 where they met Harvey Fuqua, they formed a British folk group called the Spinners and they were from Liverpool, England. By the 1960's when "That's What Girls Are Made For" was released on a British label, they called it the Detroit Spinners to avoid confusion with the folk group.

  • there should be no dislikes here...Thats the group and much deserved to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame...period.

  • The Detroit Spinners...loved those guys.

  • The first step is the nomination; they'd never been nominated before. How sad! Now, comes the hard part. They have to be VOTED in by the artists who are already in along with record label execs and music historians. Keep your fingers crossed!

  • Just heard The Spinners are going into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME....ummm wonder if Unsung had anything to do with it!!!!!!

  • OK, The Spinners have been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the Class of 2012. Everybody that wants them in, go to Rockhall.com and vote in the online poll -- it'll show you're really interested. Go vote -- it might help get them inducted. VOTE!

  • Yes, THE MIRACLES should be in. I fault SMOKEY. He should have demanded that they go in with him. And, I believe Smokey was on the Board of Directors of The Hall of Fame at one time. He has no excuse! It seems that if you are an unknown band, with ONLY ONE album, who headlined at a dive in The Bowery (about one half the size of one of our storefront churches) your chances of getting in are better than The SPINNERS and The MIRACLES. Don't give up hope; it's not over yet!

  • @MsMissile01 THE MIRACLES aren't in EITHER !! Motown's First Group should have been the first Motown act inducted . But, they put SMOKEY in alone . That should have NEVER happened !!!

  • We're working on getting THE SPINNERS in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I hope it will be the Class of 2012, Unfortunately, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was supposed to be OURS because the music and the sound was ours. But then, the men behind the music changed and took the music in the direction of the 'punksters' (punk rock) and then the hip-hoppers. Now, we have to take it back!
