Russian Airborne Invasion

A mid-80's training drop performed by 76 VDV division of the Soviet Union. It demonstrates the offensive capacity of the Soviet Union and shows how an airborne invasion would look like. Today, the Russian Military has a similar capacity to airdrop troops and light armour, but not on the scale of the former Soviet Union.

What a noncense! This is a mid-80's training drop performed by 76 VDV division and has nothing to do with Georgia; or any other combat missions. You can see it even by the uniforms: they are old USSR-time ones, not the modern Russia VDV uniforms. The author of the comments to this video is either misinformed or just simply provoking.

@mig29dp: Thanks for correcting the info, I know this is old Soviet footage, but I did not have any modern videos showing a Russian combat drop. By using the frase "combat drop" I did not mean to imply that this was anything other than a training excercise. The reference to Georgia was in regard to the tactic of using paratroopers, and was not meant to imply any connection to the video shown. I apologize for any misunderstandings.

@niggerhtr1 Thinking about it, I can imagine one of the countries, probably the US using nukes. Russia would nuke in retaliation and then we'd end up with a nuclear apocalypse. Russia is starting to rebuild but it's navy and army are still relatively weak BUT the USAF is using alot of old planes and the US Navy is getting smaller each year. US tanks are nice though but so are Russias. I guess it'd depend on who has the most numerous and powerful allies + whoever can reoutfit their military first

@JoshHasAidsOMG considering Russia is still surrounded by the rubble of what was once the second largest military in the world and are to poor to be where they where in the 80's i don't think their military is all that good anymore. the united states has the biggest navy on the planet. bigger than china and Russia combined. more advanced air craft than Russia and china. it would be a nasty bloody fight but the USA would win

Over a quarter of these paratroopers are probably Ukrainian Kazakh and Belarussian

@AlderWolff I dunno man, I still think Russia is gonna fuck us up one day or atleast just the US, I can't remember what I watched but there was a documentary about WW2 or the cold war or some shit and a British officer was speaking to a group of Russian soldiers (dunno what rank) but the Russians were saying how one day they will invade and dominate Britain and America.

In fact right now Russia is the "west" and now "east" China. Russia has economic allies in Europe such as Germany and France. You can already see that communism in Russia and Europe have already gone! Now the east,  China is a problem and China will not be a reliable ally of Russia!, in the past there were many wars between Russia and China! as in Imperial Russia and in Communist Russia!

@Paskaaja yeah I was gonna say Russia would probably manage to gather a lot of allies if it decided to invade the west. I'm willing to bet North Korea, China, North Vietnam and alot of other countries would probably all side with Russia if a world war broke out, especially poorer countries since they're more likely to be influenced by propaganda and promises of a brighter future.

You are right about the uniforms...!! The parachutes however are still un use, so I doubt were talking mid 70 s, and they are light years ahead of what we are using in NATO. As for all the crap about western europe not defendeng airspace...well airborne troops will get in one way or another. Canadian Paratroopers jumped the same chutes and aircraft (IL-76) a few months ago in Ukraine, the verdict...it s the best military chute I ve jumped! VDV!

@JoshHasAidsOMG That is probably because most people still think all Russians are bearded people with ushankas drinking vodka all day, every day. The fact is, Russia is awesome and powerful, but I have to say they would lose to US. But with the help of China, for instance, It's a whole different story.
