Guinea Pigs can chirp like birds. Not all of them do it...it is actually rare to come across one who does. Here we see Starbucks Pembleton, Director of Marketing at Puppy Love Jewelry, demonstrating his chirping technique with great finesse. Guinea Pigs who chirp usually do so as a kind of alarm to others in the herd that something dangerous or interesting is happening. However with Starbucks, it is often difficult to figure out what exactly he is chirping about. I think he can see stuff that I cannot!

My new pig Frejya did this when she was out on the floor. She isn't used to us yet so I think she was startled and warning her sister Helga who was not nearby. She did it for about 4 minutes though until Helga was right next to her side! Some call it the "guinea pig song" but I'm with you in that it must be a warning call.
