Fred Gwynne was such a great actor, under-appreciated I think. So much more than Herman Munster which most people know him for.

Not to take away from Joe Pesci of course; the interplay between them in this movie is hilarious.

"Your claaents are charged with first degree murduh, How do they plead?"

"Y'Honor, my client..."

"Don't talk to me sittin' in that chayuh."

"But he told me to sit here."

"When you're 'dressin' this court, you will raaaase, an' speak to me in a cleah intelligible voice."

This scene was actually improvised after Fred Gwynee (the judge, ex-Herman Munster!) didn't understand Pesci. It was funny so they worked it into the script.
