One-fifth of all adult Spaniards are unemployed, and job prospects are poor. Even well-trained college graduates see no future for themselves in their country. But German companies are seeking skilled specialists. A software company in Bremen is happy to welcome new colleagues from Madrid.

  • @mtksbctk In a sense. But the Spaniards are not a fifth column, of Erdogan's foot soldiers :-)

  • @cristoretornebiblia This is true enough. But only in so far as the next generation of 'talent', has yet to emerge from Spain's education system. Of greater harm, is the problem that Spain will still have no jobs, to employ them. Which is why it is better for Germany to establish business in Spain. This is the opportunity that all those MBA graduates, from Berlin's ESMT, have been looking for :-)

  • True. But it does not follow that they 'will' return to Spain. After all, the Turks seldom returned to Turkey to inject their new skills and experience. So it is fundamentally better to establish German business and the subsequent employment, in Spain. Aside from Spain, there is the question of Greece. Germany must make more responsible use of its current economic position, so that Germany is not perceived to be the looter-of-opportunity from others' (self-inflicted or otherwise) misfortune.

  • @charlessmyth I respectfully disagree, both parties benefit. If and when the Spaniards return to Spain, they will bring back with them knowledge that a school cant teach. Real world experience. Education is good, but if you dont know how to make practical use of it,then it is useless

  • If all the talent from spain goes abroad then spain will be left with non talented people.

  • the new Turks?

  • Germany need to help Spain.

  • The Spanish economy will take much longer 'to pick up again', if Germany operates a policy of stripping out Spain's intellectual base, in order to satisfy Germany's employers' demand for skilled and intelligent labour. In addition to language classes, these guys need to be directed towards a sound capability in innovation and entrepreneurship, so that they are not always in the passive position of labour seeking employment, that forced them to leave Spain, etc.
