A bona fide guitar hero, perennial poll-winner and virtuoso of the highest order, Al Di Meola has also been recognized over the past 30 years as a prolific composer and respected artist with over 20 recordings as a leader. His creative output to date is staggering, whether it's with his current World Sinfonia band or past musical endeavors like his electric Tour de Force group with Jan Hammer, Anthony Jackson, Steve Gadd and Mingo Lewis, the internationally acclaimed Trio with fellow guitar superstars John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, the Rite of Strings trio with Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty or the '70s fusion supergroup Return To Forever with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. And while his dazzling technique on both acoustic and electric guitars has afforded him regal status among the hordes of fretboard aficionados who regularly flock to his concerts, the depth of Di Meola's writing along with the soulfulness and his inherent lyricism of his guitaristic expression have won him legions of fans worldwide beyond the six-string set.

  • I was driving alone down a rural country road in the midwest, around 1 in the morning, about 25 years ago, when this came on the radio. Of all places! The next morning I had to get the record. I'll always remember that night drive...

  • @jobaecker isnt it amazing how some songs at some moments make such a deep impact and then you just hope/pray to that that you will never forget that moment with the feeling it gets you

  • I got the record when I was 13 years old...and never again has any music had a deeper impact on me. I love metal and hard rock but this one and only album makes me dream away like no other. Thanks soooo much for putting it online . Cheers from Gemany

  • @tresojos I know exactly what you are talking about. I will never forget the first time I heard Al Di Meola.. My dad gave me the Cielo E Terra cassette. I put it in my walkman and fell asleep to it. Several times that evening I woke up half in dreamstate to it and it was the most amazing and beautiful thing I had ever heard to this day.

  • Soaring Through a Dream

  • I bought the Spring Through aDream promotional use only album today $1.49 near mint jacket and what looks to be an unplayed LP.

    It is numbered. B 394602

  • I have no dispute of or about Al DiMeolas talent...He was a huge influence on Me in My younger years...His acoustic sound is always beautiful but his Electric sound has always sounded muddy and fuzzy to Me unless he plays clean. But no denying the guy is great and deserves every accolade given.

  • ...one of my absolute favorites!

Especially the piano part from Phil Markowitz from 6:15-8:10.

If I ever played piano, this would be one of the things I would target to learn.

  • ...one of my absolute favorites!

I know Al from the old RTF days and had all of his early releases.

yes, this is a fine composition. Airto was in this group; then it was swinging.
