Liberty Twp Fire Department is responding to a barn fire west of Findlay, Ohio. This video contains the response and some footage of the 4 hour fire. Mutual Aid was received from Blanchard Twp. (Benton Ridge, Ohio) and McComb, Ohio. As you can see, upon arrival the barn was fully involved. The first responsiblity was to protect exposures. There was another barn 20 feet from the burning structure. Two water sources were used. A pond behind the home and a tanker shuttle with 6 tankers. The tankers alone shuttled over 60,000 gallons of water. This does not include the water used from the pond.

  • Hey guys, fire fighter here from New Zealand, what is mutual aid ???? we dont have that saying over here. How many trucks would attend a fire such as this one ?? thanks.

  • @greytown293 Mutual Aid is when we call in other fire departments. When a fire is too large for one department to handle, we call other town in. This fire had 3 departments with 8 trucks.

  • How sad. God bless you all. Thank you so much.

    Did everyone (including animals) survive?

  • 2 Thing's

    1. What was the car you were driving at the begining?

    2. Don't you wish the firetruck's could carry a sh** load of water?

  • it took along time because of the country roads and their volonteer volunteer

  • @The911USman In my 25 years (three departments), I have only been on two barn fires that were saved. Usually, the owner is there to see the ignition.

  • @bapabob

Barns tend to burn really quickly, even if there would have been hydents at the scene, the barn wouldn't have been able to be saved. With what I am assuming straw or hay bales inside plus the dry wood of the interior the barn wouldn't have stood a chance. That is why they went 2 protecting the buildings around it. Tanker shuttes arn't much of a problem in most areas because u can call in several of the neighboring tankers if need be and they take maybe a minute to empty into the pool.

  • @bapabob they were drafting from a nearby pond, as it says

  • @joek0617 Drafting would imply a water source at the fire ground, yes? Drafting from the pool the tankers set up may very well provide more than a hydrant, I don't know. But the problem seems to be the amount of time to setup and fill that pool b4 they can start. The structure was gone b4 the tanker in this video made its 2nd shuttle. I'll stand behind my original statement of being happy to live in an area protected with a public water supply and hydrants.

  • @bapabob you'd be surprised... i bet that with the drafting, they can pull in more water than u can off a hydrant

  • wat r u driving?

  • do u know Eldorado Fire Dept.? in Ohio
