Ban NYC Carriage Horses

Public Hearing on Carriage Horse Bill, Friday Jan 30th 2009, at 1pm in City Halls-2nd floor, NYC.

Please attend this hearing to speak up to 2 minutes to help these poor horses who have no voice at all.

all the horses looked healthy and happy to me.. you guys don't understand that these animals have a great life.. i love horses..and a horse you can take through traffic without it freaking is a great animal to have.. why don't you guys get a life and let these people do what they are doing.. none of the horses were sore or limping.. all healthy and happy.. idiots..

these horses don't have natural lives and live miserable lives in NYC. we all have lives? I am not in the mood to compare them right now. those that can't defend the cruelty tell peope to get lives. those horses don't even have a mandatory retirment home.

It saddens me to see the abuse that this fine species is being subjugated to by humans.

Horses do not belong in a auto infested polluted environment from petroleum based carbon emissions, automobile & city noise pollution, and the visual chaos they also go through.

I have never ridden in any carriages in cities and never ever will, and I also discourage people I know as well to do the same.

You just have to look at any of these horses, and you can see a miserable existence and a broken spirit.

Outrageous. These animals don't belong in traffic! None of my friends or family will be taking these rides. The time has come to end this for good. People doing this for a "living" will have to do what the rest of us do when we lose our jobs - retrain. It's really not difficult.

OK I have to weigh in here... There are SOME carriage horses that are not cared for properly but not all of them FIRST OFF. Second to the people trying to ban these horses from doing the job in which they were intended... theses horses are being sent to slaughter you MORONS! They are better off doing a job than dying because people think it's cruel. Check out horse slaughter and tell me what's cruel. Just because they aren't being killed in the US doesn't mean they aren't dying.

The drivers in this video are disgusting. They talk like typical new york scum, uneducated poor bastards. They are conning people, what makes anyone think that someone who takes advantage of their customers won't take advantage of the animal in their care? The only way those horses see proper vet care is if they were t-boned by a bus....and the asshole driver would still be by its side whipping it to get up. sick.

How awful for the horses that they are subject to long grueling days in extreme weather in congested city traffic carting about oversized tourists so that loud-mouth thugs and bullies can line their pockets with cash.

Wow, you guys are pretty rude. I don't see anything wrong with the horses. If a horse was limping you would see it because they take an odd funny step when they walk. Honestly, horses like that are bred to pull carriages. If you're shedding so much anger toward that then why not shed some toward rodeo as well. What's next? You're going to try and ban carriage rides in Germany and Chezlovakia as well? These horses look perfectly taken care of.

These people should be arrested for animal cruelty! This video makes me cry... Horses are intelligent, sensitive animals. To be exploited and tormented in this way is heartbreaking... Please save these poor creatures from this torture, exploitation and abuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
