I discovered this bug on iPhone 3G firmware version 2.2
The touchscreen is unresponsive while one finger is put on top bar.
This could make impossible to answer a call while holding the iPhone with one finger accidentally on the top-bar.

I submitted the problem to Apple.

  • This is meant to do that. Hold your iPhone in the sun, see the purple spots? When your on a call, these activate and notice your face is near the screen and shuts off. Okay, we've got that straight. Now on to the video. Scroll to the bottom of a page. Now tap the top bar. See what happens? This is not an iPhone bug. Think and test before putting up a video on YouTube.

  • @sizmbr It is not due to the proximity sensor. That was a bug of versions prior the 3.0.

I notified Apple and it was fixed in 3.0

  • Your video proved nothing. Is this 'phenomenon' not the same no matter where you place your finger on the screen. In other words, it's not unique to the top bar.

  • @sharie6 It is fixed with 3.0 version, so you cannot reproduce it with your iPhone...

  • UPDATE: Seems they have fixed this in OS 3.0+

  • Congratulations... You've reached another new level of stupid... or being and idiot...

  • u r stupid

  • hahahahahah i have an iphone with a unresponsive touch screen and when i saw this video i had the idea to put my top finger on the upper 'strip' of the phone while sliding the unlock bar. ive been trying to get my screen to work for some time now and this did the trick =D hahah

  • @sharie6 actually it is didn't u see him place his finger under the top bar and it worked.....and no it wouldn't make a difference if the screen was just touch sensitive but it's not it also has to do with heat that's why in apps such as mood bad you can touch the screen in multiple places and not get a dot in between these places but instead on these places...all of them

  • Not fixed on iPod and I'm on the one before the newest one the one that you can install I book on
