  • God Bless the memory of Trpr James Cody of the 20th Hussars & his brave horse comrade ‘Sis’ who after many adventures from 1914 to 16 succumbed to a shell, thus saving his life but losing hers. Though pinned under her dead body as the shells and bullets flew, he thought not of himself but sobbed for his dear brave friend. He fought on in the mud & blood. 1918 returning to his Liverpool home always telling of the bravery of his noble horse she, he said, saved his life.

    He was my Grandfather.

  • 1.50 Such a chilling moment in the movie. Just seeing the horse running on on his own was heartwrenching

  • Maybe it comes from being a percussionist, but I love the sound of those snares! The drums of war... Williams is a master at conveying so much emotion and story into his pieces.

  • I felt tears coming to my eyes just listening to the music beginning at 1:40 :'(

  • I held my friend's hand at this part in the movie, because we've both read the book and we knew what was coming for Nicholls. She told me I had her hand in a death grip. I didn't notice because I was too busy crying.

  • Best action piece on the entire album... Not to mention the superb trumpet solo at the beginning.
