AAAA.121236Z DEC 2008 The Thirty-Nine Steps was written by John Buchan in 1915...After Richard Hanney finds his guest lying sprawed out on the floor with a knife through his heart..He heads off as his life is also in danger..So he heads from his flat in the West End fearing his life...`There was not a second to spare. As soon as I got to Euston Road I took to my heels and ran...At St Pancras I had no time to take a ticket, let alone that I had not settled upon my destination. A porter told me the platform, and as I entered it I saw the train already in motion. Two station officials blocked the way, but I dodged them and clambered into the last carriage. Three minutes latter, as we were roaring through the northern tunnels, an irate guard interviewed me. He wrote out for me a ticket to Newton-Stewart, a name which had suddenly come back to my memory, he conducted me from the first-class compartment where I ensconed myself to a third-class smoker.....[This is around 20 miles from Stranraer in Scotland.]...Well to tell any more would spoil the story...The three films that have been made do not portray what is in the book..My own copy 102 pages it can be read in a week or even sooner. The music is by FELIX MENDELSSOHN 1809-1847 Scotish Symphony Op.56 part of the forth movement Allegro vivacissimo-Allegro maestoso assai.......AR.

AAAA.140822Z DEC 2008 Dear Sir; Thank you for the comments most grateful, I am afraid I do not watch television too much but there are some things which are intresting. But to have a good read is better for myself. Then classical music..Now we must not forget the valiant efforts some of the younger people today in filming Railways, Emergency services, and a host of other things and to post it onto YouTube I would give them a medal...Have a restful weekend.......AR.

AAAA.131810Z DEC 2008 Dear Sir; Thank you for looking and comment on the video..This idea had been on my mind for a long time..But to find a Midland Compound roaring out of St Pancras on the internet might just be nigh on impossible..So I choose a wonderful piece of art from a painting added the music..Now I find that even today quite a few younger people And old older ones like myself still love the illustrated books. All credit to the ones who illustrate them..Thank you for writing.......AR.
