III. Allegro Maestoso

The German virtuoso violinist Ferdinand David's Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra, Op. 4, was composed in 1837. It is a well-known solo for trombonists and is one of the first pieces composed for the trombone in the western world.

  • also, this is one of the 1st ROMANTIC solo pieces for trombone: you want to know earlier solo works for tenor trombone, ask Christian Lindberg, who has resurrected tons of stuff, including a Leopold Mozart concerto

  • Interpretation is ok...sometimes a bit harsh and exuerbant but gentle when needed and heroic when applicable. Slokar is good but he ain't Ian Bousfield, Joe Alessi, Michel Becquet, Jay Friedman, Ralph Sauer, or Jorgen van Rijen either.
