Tony unveiled a new version of his track Steal the Sun recorded with the Band of the Royal Marines at Beatles producer George Martin's studio.
In July 2009 Denise Harris set up Afghan Heroes in memory of her son Lee who died in an explosion in Afghanistan whilst serving with the Royal Tank Regiment.
Tony Christie, best known for his track "Is This The Way To Amarillo", said he was inspired to support the charity after a meeting Mrs Harris.
"Through a mutual friend of mine I met Denise and Andy who run the charity for Afghan soldiers. I was so impressed with them I said I want to get involved.
"They heard this song I'd recorded and they said they'd like to use it and do a big recording with a Royal Marine band," he explained.
The charity gives direct and practical support to British soldiers in Afghanistan by sending them home comforts and providing holiday homes in the UK and a support network to the to returning service personnel and the families of those killed. (taken from the Telegraph)
