KG in this 2000 Nike ad with soccer star Brandi Chastain.

In an interview with ESPN's Mary Buckheit, Chastain was asked who won the foosball game between she and Garnett.

To which she replied, "I whupped him! I beat him so badly, he was really down about it. He told me if I was a guy he would have thrown the whole table right over. He had to get himself a table of his own so he could start practicing."

That's Brandi Chastain, a soccer player who once celebrated a game-winning penalty kick by removing her jersey, wearing just her sports bra. The famous image even made the cover of Sports Illustrated, TIME and Newsweek.

In this Nike commercial, KG and his friends are obviously expecting her to do it again.

I believe that Nike took advantage of an under educated young man like Garnett at that time and humiliated him. The theme and setting for this commercial was clearly not thought out given the lack of sensitivity to the historic nature of perceived negative behavior by Black men towards White women. Too bad the Nike Board of Directors members like Michael Jordan are so busy making money that they allowed this garbage commercial to slip through the cracks,

I was so offended by this commercial that I immediately wrote Nike to complain. The image of large "lecherous" African American males surrounding a small White woman to view her private parts only helps to perpetuate negative stereotypes of Black men.

And he's been with Adidas ever since 2003.
