Easy enough to develop a rapid bolt action like that but would be interested to know how many, if any, of the rounds were on target and what was the distance involved

@guinnessvitamins you would be very amazed by that. The enfield beats a mauser on everything
exept 2 little thingies
The mausers accuracy beyond 600 meters
And getting a stripper clip in a mauser works 9/10 of the time while a Enfield does it 8/10 :)

iwant one of those

@initvesa It doesn't take that long to pull the bolt back and forward, as you can see in most Lee Enfield Mad Minute videos, and that's using a rotary bolt. Most military firearms today have a straight pull that rotates the bolt for you, making it faster still. It honestly isn't much a problem.
And it doesn't take long. Charger loading IS faster because it's less clumsy, magazines have to be placed in neatly, the right way and such. Chargers you just sit it there, push down, close bolt, done.

@initvesa Yes, it is quite likely. Because most firearms are more compact these days, the magazine releases are often quite close to the trigger. It's easy to snag another finger or something on the trigger whilst the rifle's loaded. Also, one thing I didn't mention was the fact that the closed bolt presses down on the magazine whilst it's fully loaded, which tends to cause misfeeds because of too much spring tension in the magazine. This is a problem I've seen a lot with a CZ452's 10 round mag.

The Mauser as a single shoot rifle was suprerior to the Lee,but the Lee had an easier bolt action that enabled the user to keep his eye "on target",therefore the Lee proved to be the more effective rifle in a combat situation.

@TheHandgunhero "You can expect an accidental discharge, especially in a combat zone." By this do you mean it's very likely to occur? I was thinking if for example you are prone and have the gun pointing forward, reloading could be done much more quickly if you just swapped magazines

@initvesa Shooters are trained to always extract the round in the chamber before detaching a magazine, military or not (at least, with proper training.) Reloading and manipulating a weapon to replace a magazine means the muzzle is bound to wander around a lot. If you've got one in the chamber and reloading... You can expect an accidental discharge, especially in a combat zone. This is very dangerous for the shooter and those around him. And, it brings no advantages. Some rifles can't even do it.

@hypnotoad2011 There is a full auto upgrade kit for the Enfield.

@TheHandgunhero I wonder if you know why Armies do not want their soldiers to simply drop their magazines? From video games (not good source, I know) there is the practice of swapping magazines instantly before bullets run out so one does not have to pull the bolt again. Is this ever needed in real combat? (Perhaps to keep up a continuous supressive fire?)
Absolutley right!
