@perkalator104 ive had both brands. i have a gibby les paul standard now but i still like my epiphones. but ive had 2 faded sg specials and the quality of the sg will be higher than that of the epiphone les paul standard. in the epi your toggle switch, input jack, volume/tone pots, or your pickups could all fart out unexpectedly. ive had it all happen to me but all my gibsons were rock solid. if i were you i'd get the gibson or find an epiphone elitist guitar. better than gibson

A little distortion? Does that mean my guitars dont distort at all?! XP Lol good review! Ive heard mixed reviews on this one though. Which would be better as far as quality wise, this or the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top? (btw Ive played both)

@andrewceg If you wanna see if it changes the sound, put a metal ruler between the pickups and the strings and listen, it won't be an exact sound, but you'll get a pretty good idea of how it would sound

@andrewceg Alright.... As for the sound, most people can notice a difference, but I can't. I hear reviews say that they're a little hotter without the pickup covers. The guitar will sound the same, but one will bring feedback a little quicker. Hope this has been helpful! Sorry if I wasted your time >_<
