I was inspired to make this series of vlogs as I came across a girl from America listing stereotypes of Britain and was questioning what the stereotypes of America were. So with response, I thought I would throw out my view of the stereotypes. None of this is aimed at people to say that where I'm from is simply better and I'm not stating I hate America either, clearly not the case, but a number of these stereotypes are some what true, not all are and I do point out clearly, that not all American people are like that.

I'm not slow in defending the American people, but of course, I thought I would throw out my input. It's very difficult to throw out the information in a short series of videos of course, because there's a lot of depth into explaining the stereotypes, why they exist, the way people view things. In my view, I just wish certain people would take a step back and instead of being closed minded and ignorant, actually see there are good and bad people no matter where you are in life. Perhaps not to the same extent, but you get my point, not everyone is of these stereotypes.

  • I've heard different. Just saying. I'm from Essex - people keep doors open for other people. people differ everywhere. I've heard from people working in Edinburgh who love it but say they've never got mugged so many times or seen so many drugs in their lives. And lets be honest, we do all drink tea.

Lets just say there's a variety of people everywhere and leave it like that. I speak like Hugh Grant, and i'm a tomboy. Stereotype = dead. it has to be used in media for marketing thats all.

  • @Nessie0Loves0Jacob I respect your view, yes stereotypes are very much like that, I would agree with you. There is trouble everywhere you go in this world, not everywhere is perfect.

  • I just want to marry your accent! lol.And I want to visit Scotland even more now. I want to meet friendly people and see all the beautiful places. Those "highlander" novels got me hooked on Scotland.lol. but to go there and visit would be a dream come true :) Anyways,I know this may sound silly but is there a high population of asians in Scotland? Its just a question that came to mind because I'm Asian-american and never heard of asian-scots or scottish asians (correct me if I'm wrong) before??

  • @PlusThisMinusThat hahaha I feel the same way about American accents. Scotland you will have no problem coming across that. You should read into the Picts, that'll make you feel something, especially when you walk into somewhere like the Cairngorms or Glen Coe. As for in Scotland, definitely :) that's why we have a lot of Chinese restaurants. There's even many Asians born in Scotland, many Asians that live in Scotland. You find most of the time, they're very friendly people :)

  • @PlusThisMinusThat I'm unsure though on percentage of Scottish-Asians, but I can definitely tell you, a lot of Asians come here to Scotland and study. My personal view of the people is that, they are very friendly. I think you'd like somewhere like Glasgow, as it's a city with many different people. Scotland in general though.

  • @JaclynGlenn They tend to do that with students that do study abroad programmes, taking them on trips, it's good at least you got around to other places. Make no mistake though, you get your certain arseholes here as well Jaclyn. It's enough proof that not everyone hates Americans, more of a complicated thing to explain that.

  • @ScottMcK9 No I studied in Hull, but I did visit for 4 days =)

  • @JaclynGlenn So you studied abroad in Edinburgh? Yeah it's a touristy city because of being Scotland's Capital, Scotland is well known for being very friendly. And it's good to know the people treated you well, I've always told any Americans that they'd be more than welcomed here.

    Scott

  • yea, I met a lot of really nice people in Edinburgh =)

  • @melijaje06 Oh of course not :) I would not see that as you taking a dig lol and thanks for that compliment :)
