Wow this is a very unique sound. This sounds very different to the music i have heard of Jack Payne. He seems to be able to perform in any style very well.

I have a copy of this song in the archives - It's so catchy that I find myself humming this and the other tune on the other side "Five Minutes To Twelve" :)

Apparently Jack Payne was the main artist for Imperial at the time...

I heard a similar story but it involved Jack Buchanan asking the Manager of a Huddersfield Cinema how the film version of 'Goodnight Vienna' was doing in Huddersfield. The reply came back "about as well as Goodnight Huddersfield would go in Vienna" !!

Excellent, and John Thorne is in fine form here. One of the more overlooked dance band vocalists it seems, and undeservedly so. I'm always on the lookout for records with vocals by him. I had no idea that he recorded with Jack Payne?
