Baghdad bomb attack
On Tuesday, a Jordanian military plane transported 19 Iraqis who were injured in last week's attacks in Baghdad, while more could arrive for treatment within the coming days.
Last week's attacks resulted in the death of around 100 Iraqis, and the injury of around one thousand. Those responsible for the attacks are still unknown, although some reports have pointed to the involvement of 2 Iraqi Baath party members who are based in Syria. Syria condemned the attacks, and declared readiness to talk about options in case Iraq handed enough proof of their claims. One cannot help but wonder if this is the new American way into Syria, now that their mission in Iraq is almost over.
Gujarat bans Jaswant Singhs controversial book
The Gujarat governments decision to ban the sale of Jaswant Singhs controversy ridden book : Jinnah-India, Partition and Independence is highly condemnable. The book has been banned on the pretext that it aims at tarnishing the image of Vallabhbhai Patel renowned freedom fighter from Gujarat. The restriction imposed on the people of Gujarat is unconstitutional and clearly in violation of basic fundamental rights. India is a free nation, people have the right to educate themselves about their countrys past through any source. Patel, Nehru and Jinnah were undoubtedly great leaders but they were definitely not bereft of basic human tendency of making mistakes. Lets not raise them to a level from where it becomes too difficult to rationally analyse their role in shaping our countrys future. Respect for our leaders does not necessarily mean essential kowtowing to whatever they had said or done. People have the right to differ in their opinion.
Millions starve in Kenya due to drought
Since the beginning of this year Kenya hit world headlines as 10 million of its citizens were said to be facing hunger which has now turned to a bitter reality. More millions have been forced to go without meals for days as long as well as short rains have failed. The government has been forced to beg for more donor support as it tightens its belt on spending to save more for food to feed millions of starving Kenyans. Kenyans are bracing hard times as water and power outages continue to bite. The drought currently facing the country has reduced food, electricity and water production, forcing the government to launch a Sh24 billion emergency plan to deal with the crises. As per current projections, the countrys crop production will be severely hit with maize harvest dropping to 20 million bags against an annual consumption of 33 million bags. However its very unfortunate that the government runs donors at the eleventh hour when things are getting out of hand, there were serious indicators that the country could experience hunger with the rainfall failure last year and even this year.

On the Moroccan Iftar table, dates, milk, juices, and sweets typically provide the energy needed after a day of going without food. Harira, a hearty lentil and tomato soup, satisfies hunger and restores energy. Hard-boiled eggs, Briwat that is meat- or seafood-filled pastries, also, fried fish and bread might also be served. Many kinds of sweets such as sellou and chebekia can be made all year round, but they are especially popular in Ramadan.
