The Senate is set to vote on health care legislation Christmas Eve but, as Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) told Bob Schieffer, Democrats are denying Republicans to evaluate and amend legislation in the final bill.

  • Yes, the only people that will benefit from this "Bill" are people who are at 150% of the Poverty Level and have Four Kids!

    WTF?

And it benefits those who earn $88,000 a Year and once again - has Four Kids.

WHO IN HELL EARNS 88K, HAS 4 KIDS AND NEEDS INSURANCE?

What about THE MAJORITY of Americans that earn between $35k-$55K and have 1 or 2 Kids?

I'll tell you what - The ALL Just got thrown under the BUS by the Democrats.

Nice Job Dems! You just passed another Welfare Plan!

  • @jensen ~ You really are a fool if you think the current legislation is going to adequately address any type of reform. Other than the shear fact that it's entirely unconstitutional, the negative impact the resolutions will have on the economy and institutions would be nothing short of disaster. I suggest you do some more indepth reading ~ government involvement has never made *anything* better.

Just like I was arguing with hammerspark1:

we all know how the government operates and aside from reworking the ENTIRE system there isn't much we can do. My only alternative is to make do with what we have here: we have a health care reform bill that offers a lot of good things for people like me (self-employed and going to school), so I'll run with it. It's better than bailing out the banks, because at least I get some benefit from it.

  • I think so; I was just rendering an example of government gobbledygook made **slightly ** clearer from legalistic twaddle, I understand your point and your economics :) . To answer your question, I believe the bailouts were just plain dumb. Wells, BofA and AIG should have died in flames and their own juices, if my Econ professor had it right. Economic Darwinism and Market Forces work if you let them, but the pols did it to save their friends and their own investment portfolios, in my theory.

  • @darkmagickian

Right, so a family of four is better off without health insurance? What happens when one of them gets a terminal sickness: they go to the hospital, receive poor care (we get stuck with the bill anyway), and eventually they go broke- then we get stuck with their mortgage payments (bank bailouts).

For those that CAN'T pay (students, etc.), the government will provide them with health care.

At the end of the day Corporate America has got us by the balls and it ain't letting go!

  • @ozpowermo What I had in mind was that after paying for the LE's, how much money is left over annually to pay for health insurance for 1-4 people? If it was in the household budget, no problem, but I think that the ranks of the currently unemployed and the average poverty-stricken starving student paying tuition and /or student loans would agree that it is just not possible right now, not to mention low- minimum wage earners, e.g. convenience store staff, nonunion, etc.

  • @darkmagickian

When the does the government EVER pay for anything?!?!?! You must be dreaming... "we the people" ALWAYS pay for everything. If the government pays for anything it's with OUR MONEY!

So let's make it clear... what would you rather have your government waste money on: bailing out banks or paying for your health insurance? I say neither, but the hell if that's ever going to happen!

Do you get what I'm saying?

  • @darkmagickian

Yes there is what? I'm not sure what you're addressing with the "living expenses" comment...

  • @TerryEFV2 You'd be lucky to HAVE change after paying for this crap and your other bills too! We voted for feces-flinging monkeys who will be rotated out at the first opportunity. Sen. Reid's head will be the first on the chopping block in 2010 by his fellow Nevadans, who plan to run a talking sock monkey against him on the Republican ticket...pull the string and get liberal doublespeak!

  • @darkmagickian

I don't doubt the "scuttlebutt" on your bus, but I'm just saying: if the "authorities" find out that you don't pay your health insurance then they will fine you, but it is VERY unlikely that they'll send you to jail.

State Farm and Allstate can eat shit and die!
