How can you receive God for the first time? Repent. Believe. Confess. Pray, even in a simple way. The Bible tells us that first we need to repent, or have a change in our heart. Then, we believe into Christ and receive Him. Finally, we confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. These three things culminate in a simple prayer, which might sound something like this:

"Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. I believe that You have risen from the dead and become the life-giving Spirit so that you can come into me. I open my heart to You so that I can receive You. I believe into You. I want You to save me. I receive You as my Lord, and I receive You as my Savior. Lord Jesus, I love You."
