Climate Solidarity is a trade union response to climate change. It's about learning, working and acting together to help make the kind of society we want to live in.
Climate Solidarity was set up by a partnership of four trade unions and COIN - a climate change charity. The lead partners are:
Communications Workers Union
CWU represents 250,000 members in the Post Office, BT and other telephone companies, cable TV, Accenture HR Services, financial services, and the Alliance & Leicester. It is the largest UK union for the communication sector.
National Union of Teachers
The NUT is the largest teachers union in the UK, representing nearly 300,000 members in England and Wales, in both primary and secondary education.
Public and Commerical Services Union
PCS is the fifth largest trade union in the UK, with over 300,000 members. Its members are primarily employed in the civil service and government agencies, but it also organises in the private sector, particularly in privatised companies.
University and College Union
The University and College Union (UCU) represents more than 120,000 staff in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and training organisations across the UK. UCU is the largest post-school union in the world.
They are supported by COIN (Climate Outreach and Information Network) - a charity formed in 2004 to directly engage the public about climate change. COIN has a strong reputation for training on climate change issues, and specialises in supporting peer-led learning.
