  • What a great rendition. That is a Very creative adaptation! But I think your piano could use a little tuning. lol

  • @DoubleDipperBrian I accidentally deleted your last comment, which I'm reposting just below:

  • "The tuning, even of an antique piano, can still be accomplished by a professional tuner who knows what he's doing. You want to find a tuner, though, who specializes in tuning/restoring such instruments. He will be able to inspect the sound board and tell you whether or not it can be brought up to pitch. If the board is sound, then it's in the best interest of the instrument to gradually tune it up to pitch. If not, then he can tune it to a lower pitch, but at least it will be in tune."

  • @DoubleDipperBrian Now for my response: Thanks for this info. Actually my wife inherited this piano from her mother and spent a considerable amount of money with a professional to restore the piano to playability. He did such an evaluation on the sound board and tuned it a half-step down. No doubt it's a bit out of tune now, even within the realm of the "half-step down." We will have it retuned again one day so that things will be a bit better anyway! Thanks again.

  • Wow. Excellent rendition!!! Where can I find the score?

  • @rityu Thanks for the affirmation. Virtually all of my piano postings on YouTube are improvisation on my part. If I have any music in front of me, it's a hymnal or similar song books/collections. Thanks again!

  • Truly uplifting. No matter how it's played. I love southern gospel and I love to listen to ELVIS sing his gospel music.

  • Very awesome, my friend. This song was played at my mother's funeral 5 years ago and to hear it with a little upbeat and Gospel feel to it really made me smile instead of frown. My mother performed this piece in church with another musician and it was typical slow Presbyterian hymn. LOL Although they did a BEAUTIFUL job with it, like I said, it was nice to hear the song a different way. Good job again, my friend.

  • Thanks! Best wishes with your piano. It does have a very beautiful voicing to it. I hope it brings you many years of pleasure.

  • @DoubleDipperBrian Thanks so much for the affirmation. Regarding tuning: This is an antique piano. As I understand it, tuning to true pitch could possibly damage the sound board. It's about a half step below. Thanks again for listening!
